We have a Hylafax server with a MainPine Quarto card in it. We wish to be be able to route faxes based on called # (DID). Our phone supplier is now telling us that he can't supply DTMF signals but can only supply E&M. I see that the Brooktrout cards support E&M. Will Hylafax recognized the CIDR/DID # using E&M?
TIA
Bill
Hi Bill, you might want to double-check with the phone company to verify what they mean by E&M. I've found that in many cases when the phone guys say E&M they mean something different. It sounds like in your case what they mean is analog DID in which case Lee's advice is correct.
I've personally never seen an E&M trunk used to provide public service, only as interconnections between a company's main office and remote offices or as a link between a router and a PBX in order to replace the prior.
Regarding the Brooktrout boards, I believe there's a commercial version of Hylafax available from iFax that supports the boards but I'm not aware of any drivers available for the open source version.
