HylaFAX The world's most advanced open source fax server |
Am currently using the UbuntuFax VM (essentially Hylafax 1:4.2.1-7 on Ubuntu 5.10) with a Multi-Tech MT2834ZDXI (0317I) and after some tweaking in the notify, faxrcvd scripts (reverting to hylafax versions) and some attention to Postfix, I now have what seems to be a solid fax-to-e-mail gateway.
The issue now is with outbound faxes via WinprintHylafax to a Brother 1030e. Every fax is "bunched"
– areas of high density text are worst affected but the documents are largely unreadable. (From the un-initiated eye it seems to be condensing standard default ISOA4 into 210x210 image.)In response to forum trawling, to date I have:
* confirmed the ps file from /docq and pdf output from the notify script is in correct proportions.
* downgraded ttyS1 (to which the modem is attached) from 38400 to 19200 and then 9600 baud.
* applied settings as described to set Class2DISCmd in config.ttyS1.
* attempted 'apt-get install' to update hylafax-server and libtiff (currently at 3.7.3-1ubu) but it seems they're the latest available stable versions...
- all without success.
The modem seems to be Class2 only as noted by probemodem output, although I'm not anywhere near it (remote terminal) to check jumper settings if that's an option. Accordingly I don't get an option to reconfigure as Class1 when running that script.
I am now appealing for some more insight into what might be done to make this nice
☺ Any assistance will be well received and much appreciated.Kind Regards,
Josh Green
