The modem does not think that there is a fax machine on the other end of
this call.

Maybe the sender hung up?

In any case, I doubt that either of these have anything to do with a
configuration issue.  If the modem is not telling us what is really
happening then the modem is at fault.

The faxmachine return me the error 344?

   I will check that, because that faxmachine is working properly, but i will continue my test, thanks.
