In Class 1 HylaFAX performs the message protocol, and modern versions of 
HylaFAX have proven themselves to be as resiliant as fax machines.

As far as noise and such are concerned, any sensitivities to it are 
usually in the modem DSP itself.  Some of the modem DSPs that I've used 
over the years have been more resiliant than others.  Both Lucent/Agere 
and Rockwell/Conexants have generally been very good.

Well, something certainly is wrong.

I do not know of any fax machine with which HylaFAX has an incompatibility.
