Re: [hylafax-users] Wierd log entries on ATZ response

Actually, I tried the upgrade thing, but it seems to break the way I have it set up to receive emails and then fax them.  I posted a previous message on that so I won’t go into too much detail here, but for some reason after an upgrade it wouldn’t allow me to STDIN pipe stuff to faxmail.  I have sendmail set up with an alias to receive email that just pipes the message to faxmail with –d.  Then we use the headers to control faxmail.  For some reason when I upgrade it doesn’t work anymore, however when I upgraded, then downgraded and reinstalled 4.1.5, it fixed my previous problems.

Hi Jason,

Unfortunately, this sort of response could be flow control, baud rate, or something else entirely... but if the problem is repeatable with Minicom then that's where you should focus your attention because HylaFAX is just adding complexity to the debug.

If you have any more issues with HylaFAX then it's time to upgrade... 4.1.5 is ancient !

Yeah, I tried it in minicom, same thing.  This is an external modem, I never thought about flow control but I suppose that could be an issue.  It still WORKS which is the crazy thing, but in the past I have had some issues with hylafax that right now have seemed to disappear.  At any rate, I don’t want to fix what isn’t broke, but I feel like this could break soon and would like to go ahead and get a handle on a possible fix… I’m wondering if the modem could be dying…

Hi Jason,

What happens if you try this in Mincom ?  Is this the only AT command that gives problems ?  Is this an external modem ?  Possibly missing flow control ?

In my session log I am getting the STRANGEST responses from the ATZ command… has anyone seen this before?

(I removed the destination numbers and put in XXXXXXXXXXXX)
