[hylafax-users] Configuring server to send faxes

Hi,

I have a HylaFAX server running 4.1.3 which is happily receiving faxes,
converting them to PDFs, and delivering them via email to the appropriate
places.

What I'd like to do now is configure the system so that as well as
receiving, it can also send some faxes. As these will be from a central
server (rather than user-generated), I'm really interested in sending a PDF
file - the main use I have right now is to save someone from having to get up
every hour and fax an order form to customers who can't find their copy. At
some point I might want to do something else, but that's enough for now.

I have looked around hylafax.org for information on this, and the
implication from "http://www.hylafax.org/content/Email_to_Fax_Gateway"; is
that all I need to do is create some directories and some scripts, and all
will jump into life. Reading further into the older documentation pages it
seems there is more to it, but it's a bit vague for those of us who don't
know much about Linux and sendmail configs. Another issue is that the page
above gives the scripts, but it doesn't say (a) what they should be called,
and (b) whether that matters or not. I called them 'conv' and changed the
protection codes to allow execution, but I don't know if that was correct.
If I send an email using the fax server's mail server for SMTP, it does not
send the fax.

So I'm really hoping that someone can point me in the direction of a page
that takes me from where I am now (receiving just fine, HylaFAX 4.1.3, Linux
release 2.4.8-26mdk) to my ideal scenario. I have one modem, no connection
to the Internet (for the fax server) so no security issues to worry about.

Thanks in advance,
Mike.
