Thanks Darren, I'll get in touch with them as well. While all the  
config tools prominently display all kinds of fax options to set,  
using the "testfax" utility shows this:

[root@asterisk divas]# ./testfax  /serve
TESTFAX for Linux Build
Common-ISDN-API 2.0
Profile does not meet FAX 3 requirements
