I'd recommend, then, that you upgrade.  4.2.5.1 would be a good choice.

As the FreeBSD ports tree does not have 4.2.5.1 you'll need to apply the 
FreeBSD patches and such to 4.2.5.1 source and compile it similarly in 
order to maintain the same layout, or you'll need to uninstall the 
FreeBSD port and install straight from source (./configure, make, make 
install).
