I've said 'at first glance'. Faxgetty *does* run. Problem is somewhere else.

Dmesg doesn't tell me anything. System messages (/var/log/messages) include
only routine information:

FaxGetty[9547]: OPEN /dev/ttyS0  HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.2.1
MODEM LASAT INTERNET 56000 VOICE V2.20 56000

No error messages of any kind.

Is there any other place to look for logs?
