[hylafax-users] CL-MD56XX: Some faxe could be reveived, some not
Hello dear hylafax mailinglist!
First of all, sorry for my bad english :-)
I have got a gentoo box with the latest hylafax package installed. I
want to use an analog modem on /dev/ttyS0 for receveing faxes and a
Fritz! Card PCI for sending faxes. I am not able to configure the
telefonmachine to receive faxes via ISDN, so i need to receive them via
an analog modem.
At home i use hylafax in combination with an FritzCard PCI and
Capi4Hylafax with no problems, but at work i have some problems with the
modem at /dev/ttyS0
The faxprobe command tells me that i have a Cirrus Logic CL-MD56xx
modem. On the modem hardware surface there is no label. Only a little
V90 font on it.
I can't reveive faxes from all faxmachines? And now i don't know, where
i should to start searching the problem.
When i get a fax and it functioned, i get this in /var/log/messages:
Jan 3 14:46:50 faxbox FaxGetty[8442]: MODEM CL-MD56XX 1.0/
Jan 3 14:59:52 faxbox FaxGetty[8442]: ANSWER: FAX CONNECTION DEVICE
'/dev/ttyS0'
Jan 3 15:00:13 faxbox FaxGetty[8493]: RECV FAX (000000042): from +49
531 284 20 85, page 1 in 0:13, INF, 7.7 line/mm, 2-D MMR, 14400 bit/s
Jan 3 15:00:13 faxbox FaxGetty[8494]: RECV FAX (000000042):
recvq/fax000000017.tif from +49 531 284 20 85, route to <unspecified>, 1
pages in 0:21
Jan 3 15:00:14 faxbox FaxGetty[8442]: RECV FAX: bin/faxrcvd
"recvq/fax000000017.tif" "ttyS0" "000000042" "" "" ""
When i get a fax and it didn't function, i get this
in /var/log/messages:
Jan 3 14:40:50 faxbox FaxGetty[8401]: ANSWER: FAX CONNECTION DEVICE
'/dev/ttyS0'
Jan 3 14:41:08 faxbox FaxGetty[8401]: Unknown speaker volume "on";
using "quiet"
Jan 3 14:41:16 faxbox FaxGetty[8401]: MODEM CL-MD56XX 1.0/
Here is my faxprobe ttyS0:
# probemodem ttyS0
Now we are going to probe the tty port. This takes a few seconds,
so be patient. Note that if you do not have the modem cabled to
the port, or the modem is turned off, this may hang (just go and
cable up the modem or turn it on, or whatever).
Probing for best speed to talk to modem: 38400 OK.
This looks like a Class 1 modem.

Why can i receive faxes from some faxmachines and others doesn't work?
What does functioning faxes have in common? I hope you can help me!
Best wishes, bye!
p.s.: I dont know if its important, but for dialing out i need to
predial a zero. A telefonmachine manages all the internal telefon calls.
Could this telefonmachine be the problem, that i am some faxes reveiving
and some not?
