Because it will only ever attempt to use this setting if faxgetty thinks that it's getting a data call and you've configured the system to accept such calls.

Are you running a distribution-build of HylaFAX or did you build from tarball? If you're running a distro-build then maybe they changed the default to be what you see.

I built mine from FreeBSD's ports system. Not sure though if you would call it a distribution-build.


Yes. My guess is that FreeBSD changed the default.
