This is probably the result of an incorrect ModemRecvFillOrder setting.  
See 'man hylafax-config'.

It may be good to figure out what's wrong with the Class 2.0 
configuration, but if Class 1 works for you, generally that is the 
recommended fax class to use.

Are you absolutely sure that these was the same fax session?  The sender 
claimed that it was using MMR while the receiver claimed MH.

Can you please explain your installation history?  Did you have an RPM 
install and then later install via tarball?  Or something like that?
