Hi Precioso.

If you want a real world answer to the analog v digital question then I
would suggest you contact our sales team (sales@xxxxxxxxxxxx) and request a
copy of the 'lobar' whitepaper.  This documents the experience of a customer
who migrated from a Brooktrout TR1034-P24V, to a TR1034-P8L, and settled on
a RockForce OCTO+.  Conceptually, digital should/could be better than analog
and maybe when T.38 catches up it really will be... but in the real world
today you are paying an enormous premium for the digital hype.

You should also consider what happens behind the digital/analog interface
because this has an enormous bearing on the end result (however you want to
measure 'success rate').  Today, only a very small and select band of
vendors are refining existing products and developing new ones (I'm happy to
say we are one of them).

If you have the time then please take advantage of our 30 day return policy
and try one of our boards against a digital contender... I think you will be
surprised at just how good analog is.

im trying to decide on a new modem for hylafax and wanted to know if
"theoretically" digital should have less problems than analogue..

the main "unsolvable/firmware" problems ive seen on this forum would be
"Ring detected without successful handshake" etc.. etc.. etc..

if i go ahead and purchase one of the digital boards listed on ifax

can i expect a similar/slightly higher/higher/much higer success rate.. or
is there a different set of problems??
