The problem arises when a call is reject (busy line/no carrier/whatever) and the scheduler, after some minutes, try that job again. (On of the three kernel panic happened just after rebooting from the first kernel panic, thus was raised from a job already in the queue.

Any ideas from where to start to catch this?

Sending us the logs may help.

Lee.

Which log are you referring?

syslog logs?

The most relevant log, from syslog, are these line (after which I get one of the kernel panic):

Jul 29 15:19:42 srvfax FaxGetty[7473]: LOCKWAIT
Jul 29 15:19:42 srvfax kernel: usb-uhci.c: ENXIO c0430680, flags 20, urb f08d2270, burb f08d2270

The 7473 process was the faxgetty process bound to the multitech modem, an extract of the syslog log.

Jul 29 14:34:16 srvfax FaxGetty[7473]: LOCKWAIT
Jul 29 14:36:24 srvfax FaxGetty[7473]: MODEM LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZBA-USB-V92 DATA/FAX MODEM (DUAL CONFIG) VERSION 2.27M LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZBA-USB-V92 Data/Fax Modem (Dual Config) Version 2.27m/
Jul 29 15:14:20 srvfax FaxGetty[7473]: LOCKWAIT
Jul 29 15:15:58 srvfax FaxGetty[7473]: MODEM LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZBA-USB-V92 DATA/FAX MODEM (DUAL CONFIG) VERSION 2.27M LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZBA-USB-V92 Data/Fax Modem (Dual Config) Version 2.27m/
Jul 29 15:19:42 srvfax FaxGetty[7473]: LOCKWAIT

I suspect that the kernel trace is more interesting, but I have only partial information wrote down by hand, I'm preparing to set up a netdump server to catch the kernel traces.
