[hylafax-users] Failure to train remote modem issue

Hi. I have this issue that I can't seem to get around
or find any clues anywhere. Running Hylafax 4.2.1 on
SUSE Enterprise 8 with a 4-port Rocketmodem III. The
Hylafax was built from source and the modem drivers,
also built from source, are the most recent. I have
two of these Rocketmodems, so I don't seem to have a
"bad one."

My faxes come back as "Failure to train remote modem
at 2400 bps or minimum speed" or occasionally "No
response to EOP repeated 3 tries." The worst thing is
that it doesn't happen every time. They come through
fine about 15% of the time, which is obviously
unacceptable. I did have an issue building Hylafax,
but that only involved libtiff and glibc, so I don't
believe that it is causing the problem here. The
other modem classes were of no help either. I have
tried sending to different types of fax machines and
even another fax server with a Rocketmodem II. Any
help decoding this gibberish or helping me find where
the problem lies would be greatly appreciated, as I
have spent 3 days on this already. Here is some
relevant info.

Your facsimile job to xxxxxxx failed because:
Failure to train remote modem at 2400 bps or
minimum speed; too many attempts to send
