Hi Lee,
Thank you for the very fast reply!
As suggested i tried to substitute USR modem, now i have a 
rockwell  RC288DPi configured as Class 1,
no more garbage in logs now, but in receiving faxes i get LOTS of random 
errors like following (2 different logs with different errors included)

May this be caused by a noise line or something like that (PABX)??? The 
strange thing is that a fax machine attached to that same line works 
perfectly.... This error is making me crazy!
