I have only a single modem, the MT5634ZPX-PCI-V92, with firmware 1.32h.

The PC runs Linux with P4 Hyperthreaded 3.2 Ghz and 1 Gb RAM. The motherboard
is Asus P4B533 with Intel chipsets.

No lockups experienced. I follow the recommendations given on Multitech
web site and set modem parameters with these commands:

setserial /dev/ttyS4 uart 16550A port 0xb800 irq 9 autoconfigure
stty --file=/dev/ttyS4 115200

Modem has been performing well with fax connections regularly at 33600 kbps
with class 2.1 and "on the fly" compression.

The only problems are a rare transmission failure using class 2.1, but
switching to class 1.0 will rectify these cases.

I mainly send faxes, but I occasionally will receive a fax without
problems.
