Hello, from time to time, my faxmodem will get utterly stuck on an outbound fax; faxstat will report "sending job xyz"for hours, and I have to log into the hylafax server and issue a sigkill. > zwerg:/home/schnobs# ps -Af |grep uucp > uucp 292 1 0 2004 ? 00:00:06 /usr/sbin/faxq > uucp 294 1 0 2004 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/hfaxd -i 4559 -o 4557 -s 444 > uucp 376 1 0 2004 ? 00:00:02 /usr/sbin/faxgetty ttyS1 > uucp 18693 292 0 Feb02 ? 00:00:00 faxsend -m ttyS1 sendq/q5503 > root 21168 21166 0 12:50 ttyp1 00:00:00 grep uucp > > zwerg:/home/schnobs# kill -9 186937 here's the last few lines of the logfile: > > Feb 02 19:09:54.15: [18693]: <-- data [1026] > Feb 02 19:09:54.15: [18693]: <-- data [1029] > Feb 02 19:11:14.15: [18693]: MODEM TIMEOUT: writing to modem > Feb 02 19:11:14.15: [18693]: MODEM WRITE SHORT: sent 1029, wrote 22 > Feb 02 19:11:14.15: [18693]: SENT 22379 bytes of data > Feb 02 19:11:14.15: [18693]: SEND end page > Feb 02 19:11:14.15: [18693]: MODEM set XON/XOFF/DRAIN: input ignored, output disabled Somehow, I don't think that's very informative. Any suggestions on what logging I should turn on o have something meaningful next time? Oh, and... I'm using one of the dreaded USR Couriers. I'm aware that the most common suggestion is to get a better modem -- but I'd like to at least try before I rip it out.
