This response is true, it is easier to accomplish this outside of HylaFAX....if you are the one who has to put it into HylaFAX. (And THANKS GUYS!!!! For putting everything that you have into the program!!!!!!) However, I do have to say that the client end of HF is definitely a low point. There are a number out there, some are good, others are less so, and it just seems overly complicated. A built-in hook to the print system would be killer, allowing any system to print via, say, lpd or even samba using a PS driver. Talk about killer. Even just a pre-packaged e-mail to fax setup would be nice. I am still trying to get around to trying to implement what was talked about a few weeks back to see if I can get it to work. Sure, I can hack something together, but sysadmin work isn't my main responsibility around here, and why reinvent the wheel if others have already done it and (hopefully) could easily package it for the rest of us to use? (obviously the "easily" part there is key) Tom -----Original Message----- From: hylafax-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:hylafax-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Matt Sent: Thursday, December 30, 2004 8:22 AM To: hylafax Subject: Re: [hylafax-users] MAC OS X Client - using a print driver steve birtles wrote: > don't we all ( those that use osx) > > hay haylafax programmers, how bout getting hylafax to setup a process > that looks like an ordinary print server!!, so we can all just print to > hylafax. > Seeing as OS X is *BSD based, there is nothing to stop you setting up Samba, and using something like SambaFax. http://www.purpel3.nl/sambafax/ Or, there are enough utilities for *nix for you to wite your own print spool script, and do the conversions before passing the documents to sendfax. The 'feature request' is something that is easier, and more extensible, to handle outside of HylaFAX itself.
