Re: [hylafax-users] Fax doesn't answer

Is /tmp/capifax.log showing anything?

No... I cannot get any information from any log file... :-(

Hylafax would have to be calling c2faxsend, it's obviously having problems at this stage.

Really it seems it doesn't call c2faxsend...

When you are using WHFC have you entered a valid email address for notifications and have selected "Send E-Mail Always"?

Yes.

You should get a better idea of what is happening if you do.

I print a file to WHFC and it ask me for the recipient fax number.
Then the fax is queued, but the recipient fax doesn't ring (so the fax number isn't dial). Nothing happened: I can't get any information from the log, and the job status doesn't change until I delete it.

When I delete the job from WHFC I receive this e-mail message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Your facsimile job to 0461xxxxxx was deleted from the queue.

---- Unsent job status ----

The following documents were submitted for transmission and are
available on the server for reuse until they are automatically
purged when this job is removed. Documents may also be manually
removed using the faxrm command; consult faxrm(1) for information.

Sorry, there was a problem sending notification;
something went wrong in the shell script bin/notify.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The only lines in /var/log/messages are:

Nov 3 02:07:25 pico FaxQueuer[18913]: SUBMIT JOB 20
Nov 3 02:07:50 pico FaxQueuer[18913]: KILL JOB 20
Nov 3 02:07:50 pico FaxQueuer[18913]: NOTIFY: bin/notify "doneq/q20" "killed" ""

Are new files turning up in doneq/ and sendq/ ?

Yes, after trying to send the fax I get "q21" in sendq/... When I delete the job the "q21" file is moved in sendq/...

This is the "q21" file: -------------------------------------------------------------------- tts:1099445404 killtime:1099456129 retrytime:0 state:8 npages:0 totpages:0 ntries:0 ndials:0 totdials:0 maxdials:12 tottries:0 maxtries:3 pagewidth:194 resolution:196 pagelength:281 priority:127 schedpri:127 minsp:0 desiredbr:13 desiredst:0 desiredec:1 desireddf:3 desiredtl:0 useccover:1 external:0461xxxxxxx number:0461xxxxxxx mailaddr:mattia@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx sender:Mattia Martinello jobid:21 jobtag: pagehandling: modem:any receiver: company: location: cover: client:192.168.1.11 owner:mattia groupid:21 signalrate: dataformat: jobtype:facsimile tagline: subaddr: passwd: doneop:default commid: status: notify:when done+requeued pagechop:default chopthreshold:3 postscript:0::docq/doc21.ps.21 --------------------------------------------------------------------

In the WHFC status window I *always* read these info:

HylaFAX scheduler on pico.blupixel.net: Running
Modem faxCAPI (+39.0461.268925): Running and idle

When c2faxsend dies it can produce some truly bizarre results in hylafax. For example - submitting an unknown file format to hylafax will result in c2faxsend saying it has sent the job but 0 pages were sent.

I think c2faxsend doesn't start... :-(

Thank you very much!
Bye
Mattia.
