Is there any good way to get a .ps file of a fax, successful or failed

from a jobid?

No. You have to refer to the sendq/doneq file. It contains a list of the documents.

Is the number after doc (docxxx.ps) -suppose- to match the jobid?

No, it's merely an incremented counter. So if you always submit one document per job then it will match up, but multiple documents per job will make the counting differ.
