The modem times out of fax connect correctly and drops the phone line, then resets back to normal as it should. Unfortunately, faxsend has no idea this happened and continues to wait. I used minicom to dial my office phone and let it ring. The modem eventually times out after a large number of rings and responds with NO CARRIER. Shouldn't faxsend be picking that up and stopping the job? I know it should respond with NO ANSWER and I'll check that out. Regardless, the modem is sending an error response that faxsend is ignoring. The modem's timeout is usually set via one of the S-registers, but timeout handling seems to be broken in some modems (for example, I once had a modem which wouldn't timeout when the destination is busy). In this case, try to get a corrected firmware from the manufacturer, or put up with it and remember that "check modem power" actually means "remote not responding" (which is what I did).
