Any idea what that "--> [9:]" garbage is?

Anyway, in HylaFAX 4.2.0 it will ignore any garbage after sending TCF 
like this (I think) and wait for the proper OK response.  So you should 
be set to go with HylaFAX 4.2.0beta2.
