Whoops.... my
apologies....
You asked about PDF
and my response really concerns PCL - please ignore everything I
said......
although the concept
would most likely still hold for PDF - just the escaped characters should
change.
One thing you could try to
determine the orientation codes would be to get a blank PDF page and save it
as landscape. Save it under a new filename as portrait and compare the
differences - with any luck you'll find it's just a couple of characters
changing....
Again sorry about
that - there are just too many damned acronyms in this world *grin*
Good luck with your problem....

Thanx a lot for ur kind response and idea Bruce:)
However i have some problems with ur escape caracters.
I found a list with hexa codes
there: http://www.manualy.sk/navody/pcl3.htm but i
cant find any of the codes editing any of the pdf i opened (using
ultraedit) I tried it also
with those files converted to postscript [i am total newbie
with those files so i made a try] : idem. does it
came from the fact those tags would be not mandatory or anything else
? could it came from any encryption of
pdf do you know how to do the same manipulating
postscript files ? :p thank alots.

Hi back at ya
!
Gosh - with Battle Hammers and Sumotori flying
around - it sounds like you have some heavy duty problems on you hands
If you have PDF documents
and you want to convert them all to the one layout (ie, portrait ) - you
need to write a small program to convert the PDF parper orientations to
what you want. I have written one in C to force PDF documents to print
to a specified tray and this could easily be adapted to force the paper
orientation- give me a yell if you want a copy.
In short -
you need to convert an 'Esc&l1O" to an 'Esc&l0O" wherever you
find it in the document.

Subject: [hylafax-users]
hello everybody & one landscape/portrait
question |
First of all I want to say hello to every active
user of the mailing list :)
I am a beginner using hyla-fax and i have my
first question there.
***
i need to submit pdf files using the sendfax
command. The
problem is some of my files contains pages that are faxed in
landscape ( as the original page are ) and i want to know - if
possible - if i can
configure something in the hyla-fax process to make the fax
server automaticaly rotate some of the pages, those wich deserve
to be rotated. As a
first step, I would like to be able to rotate the whole document
without checking each individual page. I 've found a first idea wich appears too heavy
for me (using a battle hammer to smash a fly
) : - using pdf2ps.
- using ghostscript
-sDEVICE=bbox command to know boundaries of the ps output ( to
know if the pictures should be furthermore rotated ) -
converting the postcript output to a serie of tiff files. (using
gs - using another tool to rotate all those
pictures - submiting all the tif pictures to hylafax
server this
"solution" not yet implemented appears to me as heavy as a
sumotori diving in a swimming pool. Anybody have a better idea ? :p
Laurent.
