Or an even more basic test to see whether sendmail itself is properly
installed and working, try creating a test.txt file and from a command
prompt, going:
mailx idjuric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -s"Testing sendmail" < test.txt
in some distributions mailx is invoked as mail, instead.
