[hylafax-users] MT5634ZBA-USB and 3 issues
Hi,
In the search of perfect fax center solution.
I came across HylaFAX and this was love from the first
moment :-)
Shortly I've discovered that although HylaFAX is great software
modems are very poor fax hardware :-)
I've tested ASMAX modem with rockwel chipset, ZyXEL1496E+
(which is still my biggest disapointment :-))
Some conexant and lucent based modems they work in class1
and ended up with 3 most recomended MultiTech5634ZBA USB
(firmware 2.27M) modems
connected via D-link 7 port hub
So generaly speaking, this setup works but there are still 3
things that still bugs me (and I'm a little bit of perfectionst
so I can't sleep peacefully until I get answer how to solve
this problems.:-))
1)Number one
This ALWAYS happens during initialisation stage.
snip from log

Mar 23 12:52:01.76: [14476]: MODEM <Timeout>
Why is this timeout happening and is there
some option to set shorter longer timeout ?
from this point ok:

Mar 23 12:52:08.68: [14476]: --> [4:ATE0]
[CUT]
[Side note] For me its not a big deal because despite this
sending works fine but it would be nice to correct this.:-)
2)Number two
sometimes when I send fax I get garbage(I think)
during init stage
snip from log:
[CUT (above usual init stuff)]
Mar 23 12:52:09.58: [14476]: <-- [9:AT+FIE=0\r]

Mar 23 12:52:09.88: [14476]: <-- [29:AT+FCC=,,,,,,,,0;DT1234567
\r]
Mar 23 12:52:36.43: [14476]: --> [2:^P^D]
What this means ? is this some bug in modem, faulty hardware
, some electric distortion I have no idea.
How to correct this problem any suggestions what this might be
and how to debug this would be appreciated.
[rest of log]

Mar 23 12:52:36.43: [14476]: --> [2:OK]
Mar 23 12:52:36.46: [14476]: SESSION END
the other part of session gets this in log (I've sended fax to
myself:-)
Mar 23 12:52:17.84: [13844]: SESSION BEGIN 00001961 1234567
Mar 23 12:52:17.84: [13844]: HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.1.8

Mar 23 12:56:25.21: [13844]: SESSION END
So it seems that my modem sends this [^P^D] to the other part
or maybe there is a problem with my usb hub?
3) Number three
Not a hardware or software problem but coincident problem:-)
log explains everything

Mar 18 11:40:35.60: [ 4396]: SESSION END
So it looks like someone called me when I was about to sand a
fax. It happened during init stage so modem was on hook,
is there a way to prevent modem from answering
while it is soft resetting ?
Thanks in advance for any info.
