Re: [hylafax-users] Two Issues

Hi Brian,

as I see from /var/spool/hylafax/log/xxxxx
you do not get a connection

> Sep 17 12:40:26.78: [ 7523]: SEND FAILED: JOB 42 DEST 85643390 ERR Ring
> detect without successful handshake

means, your modem dialed 85643390 but there is no fax on the other end or the
fax on the other end is no able to talk to your modem or your modem does not
understand the other side.
Maybe you modem is connected to a PABX and you have to dial a special number
to get a telephone-line ?

you can enter the values for PageChop and PageSize in your
hyla.conf file

PageChop
Whether or not to automatically truncate trailing whitespace on pages of
outbound facsimile (when possible). If page chopping is enabled, then pages
with at least PageChopThreshold trailing whitespace on a page will be
transmitted as a ``short page'' if the receiver is capable of accepting
variable-length pages. The possible values are: ``last'' to enable chopping
of the last page of each document, ``all'' to enable chopping of all pages,
or ``none'' to disable page chopping.
PageChopThreshold
The minimum amount of trailing whitespace that must be present on a page
before page chopping will be attempted; see PageChop. Note that this value is
specified in inches.

PageSize

sets the default page size, I guess hylafax uses this parameter to convert the
files to be send in the desired format.
