Thanks Lee.
I am assuming that I should try to patch the src using your patch and
see if this helps? I cannot find the
hylafax-4.1.5-1rh8.src.rpm that the binary rpm I installed from says it
was built from.

ncftp ...ary/linux/redhat/SRPMS > ls
hylafax-4.1.1-1rh7.src.rpm hylafax-4.1-1rh6.src.rpm
hylafax-4.1.2-1rh7.src.rpm hylafax-4.1.5-1rh7.src.rpm
hylafax-4.1.1-2rh7.src.rpm hylafax-4.1-1rh7.src.rpm
hylafax-4.1.3-1rh7.src.rpm old/
ncftp ...ary/linux/redhat/SRPMS > pwd
  ftp://ftp.hylafax.org/binary/linux/redhat/SRPMS/

where can I get this?

Also is this really an issue that the modem is buggy? Should I get a
consider getting a new one or is this symptomatic of all modems?

Bret
