ITU T.32 and its addendums. Essentially Class 2.1 varies from [a fully implemented] Class 2.0 by V.34-fax (Super G3) capability. Likewise Class 1.0 varies from Class 1 by the same. HylaFAX can't use this capability of Class 1.0, though, currently. In actuality, though, a fax Class is whatever the manufacturer makes it be. Whether the manufacturer calls it 2, 2.0, or 2.1 is a matter of their preference. But, generally speaking, Class 2 is Rockwell's draft and Class 2.0 is USR's draft. Class 2.0 became the standard. 2.1 is simply an extension of 2.0.
