If you want a simple Java client you should check out our HylaFAXSender 
client !
It's brandnew and it's tailored to give an almost native Mac OS X user 
experience.
It's opensource and so it's absolutely free ;-)

There is an Hylafax.app bundle in the app/ directory of the .dmg
