Hi,
I had the same problem with our Multitech as well. This problem only occured
with a certain type of fax machine on the other end. I think it was a Lanier
fax that it was trying to send to.
I tried using class 1 rather than class 2, that didn't solve the problem. I
even updated the firmware in the modem (The Multitech tech support guys were
very helpful), this didn't help either.
I eventually replaced the Multitech with a USR modem and the problem
disappeared.

Hi.
I did but I was able ot remedy it by taking my modem out of class 2
operation and into class 1. I use a USR modem.
What are you running with?
