[hylafax-users] 'failure to receive silence' errors with redhat 7.3

hello list

i have been using hylafax successfully for quite a while on a redhat 6.2
platform.  however, a recent installation on redhat 7.3 fails to receive 
faxes.  i am getting a 'failure to receive silence' error message.  
setting ServerTracing to 0xfffff does not reveal anything significant.  i 
looked in the mailing list archives and did not see anything similar.  i 
have used this same pcmcia modem in another laptop that was running rh6.2 
without any problems in the past.  some info:

hylafax rpm:  hylafax-4.1.3-1rh7
kernel:       kernel-2.4.18-5
MODEM CIRRUS LOGIC CL-MD56xx/CD04.08 - 603D PCMCIA (V.90-ONLY)
