Every now and then, Hylafax is no longer able to send faxes, and the error message the faxmaster gets is: >modem on /dev/modem appears wedged > >The HylaFAX software thinks that there is a problem with the modem >on device /dev/modem that needs attention; repeated attempts to >initialize the modem have failed. Once this happens, only a reboot seems to get things working again. Restarting the Hylafax process doesn't seem to help. I looked at the last log generated, and I found the following Jul 01 13:11:25.21: [17993]: SEND end page Jul 01 13:11:28.02: [17993]: --> [2:OK] Jul 01 13:11:28.02: [17993]: <-- [9:AT+FTS=9\r] Jul 01 13:11:32.89: [17993]: --> [5:ERROR] Jul 01 13:11:32.89: [17993]: MODEM Command error Jul 01 13:11:32.89: [17993]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r] Jul 01 13:11:33.31: [17993]: --> [10:NO CARRIER] Jul 01 13:11:33.31: [17993]: <-- [5:ATH0\r] Jul 01 13:11:38.31: [17993]: MODEM <Timeout> Jul 01 13:11:38.31: [17993]: SESSION END Looking at the errors, and the modem timeout, this seems like it might be the cause of the problem. However, I'm not totally sure what wedged means in the context of this error. Can anyone shed any light on this?
