Your questions are indicative that you haven't read the on-line documentation 
at http://www.hylafax.org/ and especially http://www.hylafax.org/howto/

Specifically addressing your problem - I would suggest that you change to Class 
1.  Re-run faxaddmodem and choose Class 1.
