All the errors you describe are cosmetic and solved in later releases.

This is normal behavior if you are not using faxgetty.
You have to either use faxgetty or faxmodem (not to be confused with
faxaddmodem).

Have you actually tried sending faxes?

The more interesting output (after having submitted at least 1 fax) is
faxstat -sdl
