This is sendmail protecting itself against a possible buffer overflow attack. The behavior in recent versions of sendmail is to truncate MIME headers greater than 256 characters. I have not been having a problem with this on my system and I am running Sendmail 8.11.4 and delivereing in PDF format. Did you make any modifications to the faxrcvd or faxrcvd-mail scripts? I am not sure why this is occurring, I would probably check out the Sendmail newsgroup. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeroen de Zwart" <Jeroen.deZwart@YAMAHA-MOTOR.NL> To: <hylafax-users@hylafax.org> Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2001 3:42 AM Subject: [hylafax-users] attached mail delivery fails on truncated MIME > Hi there, > > I keep running into one problem with my hylafax server. > Trying to have the system send the received faxes to an email address in pdf > (or tiff) I get: > > Jun 19 16:40:25 laptop01 sendmail[2971]: f5JEbxS02959: Truncated MIME > Content-Type header due to field size (length = 31) (possible attack) > Jun 19 16:40:25 laptop01 sendmail[2971]: f5JEbxS02959: Truncated MIME > Content-Disposition header due to field size (length = 35) (possible attack) > Jun 19 16:40:25 laptop01 sendmail[2971]: f5JEbxS02959: > to=Jeroen.deZwart@yamaha-motor.nl, ctladdr=fax (33/14), delay=00:02:26, > xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=120964, relay=10.63.18.16 [10.63.18.16], > dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (OK) > Jun 20 09:14:23 laptop01 sendmail[389]: starting daemon (8.11.2): > SMTP+queueing@00:05:00 > > So I do receive the emails but apparently sendmail doesn't like whats in the > faxrcvd-mail script. > > Does anyone have the same experience and/or solution? > Its somewhat keeping me from implementing this so any help is greatly > appreciated. > > (running SuSE 7.1 /kernel 2.2.18/ sendmail 8.11.2) > > TIA > > JdZ > > > ____________________ HylaFAX(tm) Users Mailing List _______________________ > To unsub: mail -s unsubscribe hylafax-users-request@hylafax.org < /dev/null > ____________________ HylaFAX(tm) Users Mailing List _______________________ To unsub: mail -s unsubscribe hylafax-users-request@hylafax.org < /dev/null
