Yes, as Giuilio said, the patch was applied to CVS after rc1, so unless your "rc1" was made from CVS sources, you don't have it. The patch in CVS provides a net of sorts to catch looping and end it, but it does not solve the problem of why it starts looping. Please check the log just prior to the looping to see if you received "EOM". If you did, then the problem is being worked on currently, and there is a functional (although imperfect) patch available on Bugzilla.
