I am a little closer now to setting up a machine to serve as a fax server and answering machine but I am having trouble getting HylaFAX to start vgetty. Here is my setup. I have a single phone line with distinctive ring. The single ring (RING A) is voice and the double ring (RING B) is fax. It looks like faxgetty is recognizing the two rings just fine. The config.ttyS2 file contains the following to strings to answer fax and voice calls: ModemAnswerVoiceCmd: AT#CLS=8;ATA ModemAnswerFaxCmd: AT+FAA=1;ATA When I get RING B (Fax), the modem answers in fax mode and the fax is received. When I get RING A (Voice), the modem answers and responds with VCON (for voice connection) but nothing else happens. The log file for this connection follows: Apr 02 22:49:57.00: [ 4688]: SESSION BEGIN 00000083 18598592961458 Apr 02 22:49:57.00: [ 4688]: MODEM set XON/XOFF/FLUSH: input ignored, output disabled Apr 02 22:49:57.00: [ 4688]: <-- [13:AT#CLS=8;ATA\r] Apr 02 22:49:57.11: [ 4688]: --> [4:VCON] Apr 02 22:52:57.11: [ 4688]: MODEM TIMEOUT: reading line from modem Apr 02 22:52:57.12: [ 4688]: ANSWER: Ring detected without successful handshake Apr 02 22:52:57.12: [ 4688]: SESSION END Can anyone tell me what faxgetty is waiting for? I expected it to start vgetty after receiving VCON.
