Re: [hylafax-users] Hylafax cover pages (gasp!)
Has anyone ever considered using XML-FOP for dynamic coverpage generation?
We are using it quite successfully to generate Postscript and PDF and PCL
versions of the reports from our insurance claims handling software. I
believe the XML-FOP parser and the output generators were all free software.
We consider LaTeX at one time, but found that having the software output the
XML-FOP much more programmable. The output is very nice and meshes well
with dynamic content. I would think you could setup the layout with a
little effort and even format "include" logo images, etc. I am not the
actual programmer of this piece (I own the company) but I know enough to
make a fool of myself. Prior to this, we had not found a desirable way to
do this. I would bet that a number of "contributed" "templates" could
evolve to allow one to plug-in a variety of different layouts. One other
thing I rcall was that it was not as hard to get working as we first thought
it would be.
Food for thought.
