[hylafax-users] ZyXEL 2864 Ring detected without successful handshake

I have a SuSE HylaFAX-Server 4.1beta2 using ZyXEL Modem  V1.09 running
smoothly since about 8 months.

I added a second modem to ttyS1: same make, but V1.21 (as recommended in
hylafax-docs). This modem cannot answer the phone correctly, handshake stops
very soon and the modem emits a steady sound. Sending fax is no problem.

Does anyone know this phenomenon ? 

Any ideas very welcome !
