I have used a Olitec SmartMemory, and it works very good. No problem. ----- Original Message ----- >From: Claude DEVISE <c.devise@wanadoo.fr> >To: <hylafax-users@hylafax.org> >Sent: Wednesday, Oct 25, 2000 6:42 PM >Subject: Re: [hylafax-users] problems with some fax machines > > >At 11:41 AM 10/19/00 GMT, Claude DEVISE wrote: >>Soft : Hylafax fax server 4.1 >>O.S. : Suse Linux 6.3 >>Modem : U.S. Robotics External 56k (FaxModem), Class 2.0 Leee Howard answered : >>Generally speaking, it would be better to run USR modems in Class 1. >> I haven't had the severity of problems with Class 1 as I did with Class 2.0 >> with my USR modem. Lee, Thanks for the info. You were right ! I changed my config file for my USR FaxModem, (I turned it into a Class 1 modem), and it works fine... no errors left... I read also some articles on modems lies about their capacities, and it seems USR Faxmodem is NOT a real Class 2.0 modem ... So next time i'll choose other model... what one would be the best for Hylafax ?? Zyxel ? MultiTech ? What about some external french local models (trademarks : Olitec, Kortex) ? These are easily available here, but are they usable (with Hylafax, i mean) ?
