In your config.<devid> file put the following line:
Class2APCmd:		""
But this doesn't have anything to do with your problem with the Canon fax.

It has to do with "new" fax features which aren't present in virtually any
modem.

Ignoring it would also work fine if you can manage to soothe your anxiety
about it.
