As for Class1, it almost does not matter, and most modems will work well
(but only CVS version and upcoming 4.1 beta 3, where some critical bugs
have been fixed). But for Class2/2.0 proper modem selection *does* matter
-- there are suprisingly many modems in the market with more or less
significant firmware bugs :-( I believe ZyXEL modems have very good
Class2/2.0 implementation (but 4.1 beta 2 also contains the bug, not
allowing them to work reliably -- "endless RTN"), others like Multitech.

Personally I use ZyXEL 1496 in Class1, but the choice is up to you ...
