Right now, I'm using a US >Robotics 56K external modem, which doesn't seem to be such a great >modem. 3COM stands behind their products very well. You can get overnight advance swap on that modem. Try (800)NET-3COM. Quite a number of people have them working in Class 2.0 mode successfully too in spite of the plethora of dismal information to the contrary posted here. I personally believe sticking with 3COM will be one totally acceptable choice. Of course Multitech has had a long standing active technical support program in place and they too are good. You might call the marketing or presales dept for those companies and make them aware of the rather substantial UNIX community if they aren't already, that uses HylaFAX and maybe they will contribute an optimized config file.
