Re: [hylafax-users] recommended modems

For data/fax modems, some people have been using the Multitech 56000ZDX
(external) - different chipset than the 'older' Multitechs in the modem
bakeoffs though. I bought one, have collected a few (*all* different in some
way) config files from the mailing list archive and recent postings for this
modem BUT have *not* yet installed / tested it. I'm anticipating taking
pieces from each of the sample config files I've gathered to end up with
what I need for our site.

Subject: [hylafax-users] recommended modems

Hello HylaFAX users,

I've got a pretty new version of HylaFAX (4.1 beta 2-6 rh6) running
pretty well on a Red Hat 6.1 machine, but it looks like the modem is
starting to crap out.

I've looked http://www.hylafax.org/modems.php for a recommendation for
a new modem, but unfortunately it does not say if the modems are
external or internal. For the sake of not screwing other things up on
the server, an external modem is much preferred over an internal.

So, does anyone know if any of the recommended modems are external? Or,
does anyone have an external modem that is working pretty well and would
be willing to share the modem config file? Right now, I'm using a US
Robotics 56K external modem, which doesn't seem to be such a great
modem.

Thanks for your help,

Toki Barron

PS - I am in the US.
