flexfax: modem do not dial

Hello:
I have RH6.2, libtiff3.4, and hylafax-4.1beta1-1rh6.i386.rpm

Everything is fine, I can receive fax messages, and faxstat shows:
[root@victor log]# faxstat
HylaFAX scheduler on victor.germinus.com: Running
Modem ttyS1 (952294582): Running and idle 


BUT I cannot send any fax. The modem doesn't make any dial attempt.

If I do faxstat -d I get:

What thas FATAL ERROR in the above log means?
Any idea for what could be happening?


Another question;
user "fax" is created during installation (faxsetup); which is the password for
this user?
