"null" and "tcp" exist but I don't have "socksys" - are you sure I need this on solaris?
If so, can you do an "ls -l" of it, so I can see the major,minor numbers I need to create it? Ta

Ulrich, I don't have a hylafax entry in /etc/inetd.conf

Just a guess here.  Check the permissions of the dev files in
/path_to_HylaFax_spool_directory/spool/dev
You should have null, tcp, and socksys and they should be 666.
