Re: Slackware 7.0 and hylafax-v4-0pl2
At 10:43 PM 22/03/2000 +0000, you wrote:
I suggest that you have a look into the
/etc/passwd file to ensure
that the fax user has been set up okay - there should be an entry
like:
fax:*:10:14:Facsimile Agent:/var/spool/fax:
Yes, this entry is there. Does it have a password? I reset the password
to "password"
Then edit the /etc/inittab file to run
faxgetty - again an entry like:
# Let faxgetty look after the modem
t0:23:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty ttyS0
Yes, I have this on my /etc/inittab file
At a push you can simply add the commands to
your rc.local file:
# Start HylaFAX
/usr/local/sbin/faxq
/usr/local/sbin/hfaxd -i hylafax
I have also added these lines.
'ps -ax |grep fax' should show now faxgetty,
faxq and hfaxd.
Now all the three programs are loaded and ready.

'sendfax -n -d 123456 /etc/passwd'
Thank you. The fax was successfully send to my fax machine.

Because there is too much English language already in the world.
Surely
there's room for other cultures in the global village? 'Vive la
difference!'
as Uli would say.
Delete the file \windows\system\whfclang.ger if you really must, and
Whfc
will revert to English.
Indeed, English were everywhere.... I wish I could understand the german,
is it?
I wanted to learn Spanish and French language but always can't find
time.
Anyway, I have some other problems.
These is the log when I tried to send from my fax machine to the
hylafax.
ERROR:
terminated abnormally: Missing
EOL after 5 seconds
How do I solve this problem?

Few more questions on whfc.
1) In the host entry, do I put in the Linux host name?
2) When I ran whfc, it prompted me a password. Whatever password I keyed
in were not valid. I tried the password for root, fax, hkmun(my
username), etc. All failed.
The most important part after the whfc works is to be able for me to send
and recv fax from my Win9x PC. Hope more guru who have this solution will
help me out.
Thanks to Phil for taking me so far and hope to have your continuos
support.
Regards,
Kok Mun
