Reducing Check of Modem !

This is a message from syslogd not hylafax.
>From man syslogd:

       -m interval
              The  syslogd  logs  a mark timestamp regularly. The
              default interval between two -- MARK -- lines is 20
              minutes. This can be changed with this option.
