HylaFax (faxgetty) falls over again

Hi list,

I reinstalled Linux over the last couple of weeks since I seemed to be having
a range of problems. I have solved most of them now but Hylafax remains
stubbornly inoperative.

When I first installed Hylafax some time ago, I referred to the fact that I
got a "segmentation fault" from faxgetty. This disappeared for unknown
reasons hence preventing me from finding the root cause - well it's back. After
a clean install of Hylafax, faxgetty fails when receiving a fax as before.
Sending faxes works nicely.

After a receive, the '.tif' file is stored into the spool directory and is
readable. It never gets mailed on (I have never got the mail forwarding in
Hylafax to work at all despite many hours of work - this could be part of the
same problem). No notification messages are mailed out to 'FaxMaster'.

I have attached a portion of the server log, with full trace enabled. I have
also attached the session log.

My system is

- PowerMac 9600/200
- Yellow Dog Linux (Red Hat) with kernel upgraded to 2.2.14 pre 17
- Hylafax 4.1beta2
- Multitech modem running solely for fax on ttyS1

I'm happy to hack around in the code with clear instructions - I haven't
debugged anything in Linux before other than through crude checkpointing.

  Iain Stevenson
